Nikol Pashinyan called yesterday to struggle again for the freedom of the speech.
Representative of “alternative” public-political initiative Nikol Pashinyan invited his adherents and all citizens to the Freedom Square . And though the participants presented with the posters of civil prisoners Alexander Arzumanyan, Arman Babajanyan, Vardan Malkhasyan and Jirayr Sefilyan’s photos, the main point of discussion was the freedom of the speech and the RA authorities’ recurrent steps to limit the freedom of the speech as well as the drafts which were adopted by the first listening in the RA NA and which aim to stop allocating frequency to the only alternative media “Azatutiun” broadcasting station. “The authorities intend to close the station, and we all know, why do they want to close “Azatutiun”, because it is the only independent media, which is available for the various strata of Armenian society”,- Nikol Pashinyan declared. He also noted that newspapers aren’t available in many regions, “This means that “Azatutiun” is the only obstacle, which doesn’t allow the authorities of Armenia to assure the citizens of RA regions that they live in free, happy, prosperous and p e respective life. I hope that nobody will advise us not to pol iticize this problem, as all problems need in a solution, and that solution is political».
Speaking about the problem of civil prisoners, N. Pashinyan said that they had been jailed by false accusations. N. Pashinyan is sure that everybody must understand that the indifference of the public is the empty squares during meetings. «If we want to change the situation, we have a problem to solve, to fill this square . There is no other solution»,- N. Pashinyan thinks.
It was also announced in the Freedom Square that the next mass meeting devoted to the freedom of the speech will take place next Friday, where several opposition parties will take place , including «Alternative», «Republic» and PPA, as well as «National Unity», «Rule of Law» Party and New Times Party. Taking into consideration the fact that the package of two drafts dangerous for «Azatutiun» b/s are going to be adobted in the NA, Nikol Pashinyan considered important to gather in the Freedom Square on weekend and decide how to prevent the adoptions of that law. The participants of the meeting moved to the Republic Square.
