Political analyst Alexander Iskandaryan is sure that in that case the international observers will recognize the elections, whoever is elected.
RPA faction parliamentarian Armen Ashotyan and political analyst Alexander Iskandaryan were discussing yesterday the presidential elections held in Georgia, and that discussion was turned into the discussion of upcoming presidential elections in Armenia. Al. Iskandaryan noted that the presidential elections in Armenia and Georgia are radically different. “The ways of development of Armenia and Georgia are quite different, today Sahakashvily does what Karabagh war was doing in the beginning of 90s in Armenia”. RPA member Armen Ashotyan noted in his turn that “Both the opposition, the authority and the society have finally understood that Georgian version is not for us since we are in different stages of political development.”
In Alexander Iskandaryan’s opinion, the elections won’t be as politicized in Armenia as they were in Georgia. If the elections in Armenia are held without terror and frauds, the international observers will recognize it. He also noted that only two nominated candidates seriously struggle for the post of the president, they are Levon Ter-Petrosyan and Serge Sargsyan, the rest of candidates simply solve other problems, and this is very normal for the political analyst.
For Republican Armen Ashotyan the candidates are divided “Serge Sargsyan and the rest of candidates, because it is obvious that the former President’s PR return to the political arena, brought the recurrent appreciation of people’s wisdom.” Mr. Ashotyan thinks that “Serge Sargsyan is the main favorite and has the most chances to win”. He also said that they predict Serge Sargsyan’s victory by 56-58% which will correspond to the RA legislation and international electoral standards.”
