– In your opinion, what do “WikiLeaks” exposures aim at?
– Generally I don’t believe that my analyses are right, however I think this is a huge, involving the entire planet place that uses all the means to cause fluctuations in certain places, big and small fluctuations. Particularly, I perceive “WikiLeaks” that way and naturally, obviously I don’t welcome it, because I understand that governing is a complex process and some tête-à-tête conversations on certain issues are possible in that complex process. It means that you consider the interlocutor at least noble, thinking that he will not uncover your words, because if one side behaves the way “WikiLeaks” did, I can’t think it is moral, I think it is bad.
– In your opinion, are these publications of “WikiLeaks” against certain man, certain political figure, certain political force or are made to explain something to the Armenian government?
– No, I would like to draw parallels with the skyscrapers explosions in the United States in 2001; why were they exploded – to radically change the policy. I cannot be convinced that those airplanes were enthusiasts and they flew toward those buildings by themselves. Or the financial crisis; it turns out that the “super-authorities” do what they like to do, I realize that all, even big countries cannot stand against those. One of their functions is “WikiLeaks” that refers not only to Armenia, but it generally aims to conduct its policy around the world whether it is the Middle East events or other regions, issues of peaceful co-existence etc. Particularly, Armenia may get its share, because the region, notwithstanding the factor of its natural resources, anyway, is like a junction, an important place, I think that Armenia is also like that in terms of mentality, behavior, why not flexibility and being like that is interesting for the superpowers and that uncovering might take place, in order to generate some phenomena. However, anyway, I want to say, what exposures are they, those are just issues related to governing, at the moment maybe even interpretations of the situation in more reliable atmospheres. And now that “reliable” side uncovers that thing; it lessens its honor, not to say ruins.
– However, the same “WikiLeaks” is just an information website.
– Anyway, that information website has no such power to cause fluctuations with such amplitude on the globe.
– Don’t you think that our state-political figures are, nevertheless, a little bit garrulous, even when the conversation is tête-à-tête?
– Even if it is so, I wouldn’t like to consider that awful, because the process of our liberalization and independence has just started, really and clash of interests is conspicuous, along with that, people who deal with certain things are not prepared to be psychologically ready and they may speak of some things that they could avoid speaking of.
– Let’s get back to the subject of dialogue; you stated once that Tigran Arakelyan’s release was just an excuse to stop the dialogue, why do you think so?
– Anyway, the opposition has played its part in establishing and liberalizing our country, but at this moment it seems, in order to appear more favorably in the eyes of the society, they represent the results of that dialogue as so called “demands”. All right, one could bear it somehow, one could say, let them say “demands”, but they are not confined to that and they say after that, did you see how they met the demands? There is no such in reality, the authorities do not meet any demands, the authorities may understand the phenomenon, think that it must be done and do it, and it doesn’t mean that they meet someone’s demand. And now in order to make the semblance for some poor-minded people that the demands are gradually realized, maybe they crossed the line by that.
