Yesterday, in Kapan a set of municipal officials and members of the city council received diplomas and monetary rewards for the work they had done in the community life, on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of forming local self-government in Armenia.
Gagik Atajanyan, the first mayor of Kapan after forming local self-government, also received a reward. Artur Atayan, the current mayor of Kapan was decorated with the “Garegin Nzhdeh” order by the government of the Republic of Armenia for his active participation in defending Artsakh and the southeastern border of Armenia.
But it was incomprehensible, to say the least, for many that Vladik Arakelyan, a member of the city council, got a reward. He is often absent from the meetings of the city council, he almost never participates in discussing issues important and valuable for the community. Last year when the mayor of Kapan and other members of the city council were actively struggling against the uranium project, Vladik Arakelyan was pleased with the uranium project and positively assessed that initiative.
