Samvel Mardanyan, the judge of the court of first instance of the region of Tavush, held regular assizes in the court of first instance of the administrative district of Shengavit in the capital city on the case of Artak Nazaryan’s murder.
Ruben Martirosyan and Nazaryan’s mother Hasmik Hovhannisyan, the representatives of the victim’s legal successor, filed a petition of self-recusation during the previous session. The judge denied the petition of self-recusation.
Ruben Martirosyan made a statement that he had applied to the Attorney General of the Republic of Armenia reporting on the crime. The Attorney informed that it was sent to the court. In the end, it turned out that the report had really been sent to the court, the issue of hearing it would be decided after the examination.
R. Martirosyan stated that during the preliminary investigation a set of crimes had been committed. In particular, Artak Nazaryan’s corpse was found not at a distance above the ground, but in a trench.
“
It is a mystery why and how the corpse was found at a distance from the ground – it is rebus that cannot be solved”, said R. Martirosyan. He drew the attention to the actions of an investigator who had arrived at the scene. Investigator Levon Petrosyan recorded that there had been bloodlike spots on the rock. However, no sample of the blood was taken, it wasn’t revealed whether it corresponded to Artak’s blood group, whether the mentioned blood was, let’s say, of some animal.
According to Ruben Martirosyan, it was also a mystery whether 120 bullets shot at Artak Nazaryan were on the spot, “The investigator fired into the air and the bullet is still on the spot.” The strange thing is that the investigator played a role of a ballistics expert, which is unacceptable.

d in the court about 54 injuries found on Artak’s body. The investigators have conducted the case so that the medical conclusion is neglected, qualifying the murder as suicide.
The legal successors of the victim petitioned that two investigators who conducted preliminary investigation Levon Petrosyan and Sargis Madatyan were summoned before the court as witnesses. The judge stated that the petition will be “probably” granted after examining the evidence.
Some time ago Artak’s mother Hasmik Arakelyan must have testified. She managed to say that she had been pedagogues’ daughter, that she had been a member of the National United Party, along with Paruyr Hayrikyan, Ashot Navasardyan, Bagrat Shahverdyan, Shahen Harutyunyan and Andranik Margaryan. Hasmik Hovhannisyan got agitated while speaking and the judge announced a one-hour break.
In the meantime, the cries of mothers who had lost their sons in the army were heard in the hall – the bailiffs bring water and try to help them.
