Levon Ter-Petrossian stated at the Armenian National Congress (ANC) rally on November 25 that if PAP found the strength to separate from the coalition and aimed at holding free and fair elections, ANC had to be ready to cooperate with that force, except for running for the election on a common list. Myasnik Malkhasyan, a member of ANC and a former Republican Party MP, said during a conversation with Aravot.am that ANC had to cooperate not only with PAP, but also with all the forces that really wanted Armenia to become a democratic country and were ready to contribute to holding fair elections. “I think Levon Ter-Petrossian said nothing new to make various and extreme commentaries. What the first president said is quite logical. All the forces that want to rescue our country from the March 1 bad dream, the results of October 27 must unite and restore the people’s faith through fair elections. In that regard, if PAP wants and aims at such a thing, I am for such cooperation.”
In response to question that “we often here slogans like ‘no sergeantation’, ‘no robotation’, no Dodatsum (stupidation) during ANC rallies and in the case of cooperation, what will you do with the last slogan“, Myasnik Malkhasyan said, “If some politician, someone has committed a sin, it doesn’t mean that he will always be under the burden of that sin. He should be offered an opportunity to atone for it. I think nobody doubts that Levon Ter-Petrossian really aims at making Armenia democratic, returning the constitutional order to the country and the right to respectable life to the people. We should not avoid those forces that are ready to cooperate on this path.”
Our interlocutor is not the supporter of solving issues through demolishing, “Egypt has already done once and they are doing it now – Armenia should be prevented from that. Ter-Petrossian has taken the rational path and the establishment, those who are greedy beyond limits, should stop for a moment. Foreign challenges do not propose an alternative – all the forces must consciously unite and make the establishment hold free and fair elections.” According to Myasnik Malkhasyan, if PAP finds the strength to take that step and there is a split in the establishment, it will guarantee 50% result.
