Grigor Amalyan’s commission doesn’t work

December 23,2011 16:56

Journalists’ “Asparez” Club presented the results of the monitoring on whether the size and distribution of commercials in H1 programs in July and October corresponded to the standards of the Republic of Armenia legislation. Last month we presented the report on May-June. Let us remind that this research has been made since January 1. It was mentioned this time, as in the previous report, that this mass media broadcasted its programs in Gyumri not 24 hours a day, as in Yerevan and Ararat plain, but 17-21 hours a day, breaking the broadcast at night hours.

During 20 hours out of 441.4 hours examined within 24 days in October, 2011, the size of commercials was beyond the 14 minutes limit provided for by the law. During the examined 24 days, the interval of most violation was between 23.00 and 24.00.

Mesrop Harutyunyan, a Freedom of Speech Defense Committee (FSDC) expert, said they presented the results of the monitoring to the Public TV and Radio Company Council, H1, National Assembly, National Commission on TV and Radio and made proposals. However, none of the responsible authorities, regardless of invitation, came this time as well as during presentations of the previous researches. Project director Levon Barseghyan, the president of “Asparez” club council, explained why the results of their researches had never been broadcasted by any TV company, “Shall they come and present that Grigor Amalyan’s commission doesn’t work?”
