«Many people say that it is really easy to find a job in Armenia. I can’t imagine my future and my happiness inYerevan. Even if I graduate my institute with red diploma it is hard to say that I will find a job here. There is no guarantee» says Narine Galgoyan, student of State Economical Institute
US Embassy inArmeniaorganized job fair for the citizens ofYerevan. Job- seekers as well as representatives of companies who seek qualified applicants for jobs and internships were welcomed be organizers of event. At the job fair there were about thirty international and national organizations: Viva Cell, US Embassy, Beeline, Ashtarak Kat, the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, Congress Hotel Electra Communications, OrangeArmeniaamong the participating companies.
There were only a few positions but number of job –seekers approximately two thousand people aged 20 and 35-40. Only more than twenty positions offered by companies. According to Noonch Naroutunian, Human Response Assistant at US Embassy for one position applied more than one hundred applicants.
«There are many applicants who apply for one position. For instance for the post of an Administrative Assistant at US Embassy for this moment applied approximately hundred people. We are still excepting applications. But you know everything depends on a position. Many applicants are aged between 25 and 50 who applied for this position»,-adds Noonch Naroutunian, Human Response Assistant
Most organizations are seeking qualified applicants for summer internship. They are not offering job places for this moment. If a successful applicant wants to win a competition, he or she should wait until the summer. For example «Etcetere» Communications only offers summer internships and jobs.
«We are not offering free positions for this moment but for summer only. We offer three positions for summer Account Manager, Media Planner and Brand Manager. For all positions high experience and skills are important. Also applicants should perfectly speak Russian and English languages» says Shushanik Sargsyan “Etcetere”Communications Project Manager
Almost all organizations require language skills. They must be fluent in Russian as well as in English otherwise there is no guarantee for those who don’t know these two languages.
«Now we are just collecting applications in summer we will contact to those applicants whom we have further interest. Also applicants must be fluent in English and Russian» adds Shushanik Sargsyan «Etcetere» Communications Project Manager
Many Armenian youth wants to move to other countries in order to earn money for living. Some of them say that it is very difficult to find a job inArmenia. Even if they will find a job the salary is low and no competitive.
«That is my first time in such kind of job fair. I am a student I study at the Agricultural University but I am not sure that I will find a job in this fair. In the future I have plans to move to Russia in order to work. In Armenia it is really hard to find a job and salary is also not so good. After getting my diploma I try to move to Russia or European countries» says Felix Bardasaryan, student ofAgriculturalUniversity.
Another student also mentions that it is really hard to find a job in Armenia. She also wants to go an abroad in order to earn money. «My major is economist I study at the State Economical Institute. That is my second time in such kind of job fairs. First time I could not find a job. Now I don’t know if I find a job or not. I will see but you know it is really hard here to find a job. I will see otherwise I will move to USA. Many people say that it is really easy to find a job in America. I can’t imagine my future and my happiness in Yerevan. Even if I graduate my institute with red diploma it is hard to say that I will find a job here. There is no guarantee» says Narine Galgoyan, State Economical Institute
«Today we had a lot of citizens who were looking for a job. Almost we received about two thousand resumes and applications but it is not the end. We are organizing this event because it is really interesting and important for our citizens who are looking for jobs. We represent the Armenian Association of Alumni .Our main goal is to help citizens to find job. For instance we collect resumes. If there is suitable job for you we inform you and help you to find a job» informed Volunteer at USAAA Nare Muradyan.
