The National Commission on TV and Radio (NCTR) doesn’t notice violations again

January 20,2012 12:45

The fact that we see not ԱԹՎ, but ATV or not ԱրմՆյուզ, but ArmNews is not a violation of the TV and Radio Law, according to NCTR.

It turns out that NCTR also thinks that it is the “picture” of the TV company, as ATV director Vahagn Khachatryan called it, or in other words the trademark of the company, is shown on the TV screen. Anyway, in response to the question of Aravot.am the commission affirmed it yesterday.

If it was a violation by the TV companies they would be compelled to pay a big fine, in the amount of 200-fold minimum wage, since Section 4, Article 60 of the TV and Radio Law provides for that.

Let us mention that the law doesn’t provide for at all that Armenian viewer must see foreign “symbols” on the TV screen all day long, instead, Section 3, Article 5 of the law provides for banning usage of a foreign language in not only TV company names, but also advertisement videos and other basic information.
