January 25,2012 16:55

As Armen Isahakyan, the director of the maternity hospital of Gyumri, informed Aravot.am, today at around 2.30pm, a boy was born in Gyumri who was named Sarkozy after the French President.

In response to a question who had suggested naming the baby Sarkozy, the director of the maternity hospital said that the parents had decided it themselves – extremely excited about passing the bill banning the denial of the Armenian Genocide by the French parliament, they decided to express their gratitude in this manner.

Let us mention that little Sarkozy was born weighing 3kg, he is from the community of Akhurik, he is his parents’ firstborn, his father is unemployed.

Sarkozy’s young parents were given the child’s health certificate and passport, where his first and last names were written – Sarkozy Avetisyan.

The Republican Party was the first to make a gift on Sarkozy’s day of birth, $200 to this socially needy family. The management of the maternity hospital gave accessories for newborn baby too.

Let us mention that Sarkozy’s father Karapet, refused to have a partisan godfather – one of the representatives of the Republican Party by the name of Tomik wished to become the infant’s godfather, however, the father refused his offer, explaining that they had their own godfather.
