Political scientist Suren Surenyants who was formerly a member of the Republic Party political council, talking about the statement of the Republic Party the day before, according to which they would be represented in the Armenian National Congress list by only Aram Sargsyan himself, said to Aravot, “Regardless of today’s political situation, my best friends are in the Republic Party, who have contributed a lot to the war in Artsakh, in particular. The statement on the passive participation of the party in the upcoming parliamentary election is an obvious manifestation of my friends’ political will and civic attitude. Any decent citizen of Armenia, who witnesses a reality, on one side of which there is a non-reformed establishment and on the other an opposition that is not associated with reforms, would have done so.
I will vote for the ANC in the upcoming parliamentary election, only because I will see the name of a bright person in the third place of its list. I hope that I will attach importance to my vote during a presidential election one day seeing Aram Sargsyan’s name on the ballot. I am loyal to the value system and political heritage of Commandant Vazgen Sargsyan.”
