Heads of Armenian mass media apply to Aghvan Hovsepyan, the Attorney General of the Republic of Armenia, with the following letter, “Our colleague Tigran Hakobyan is in custody, charges have been made against him. Not discussing the content of charges, we draw your attention to the fact that Tigran Hakobyan is an outstanding figure in the field of mass media. He has been the head of the Respublika Armenii and Hayq newspapers, the National Committee on TV and Radio and the Armenpress agency. We inform you that he has problems with health – in particular, he has gone through two heart surgeries and now his health condition raises concerns. We are also convinced that he, being released, will have no intention and no possibility to influence the investigation in any way. Considering all that, we call on you to change his measure of restraint, replacing it with release on his own recognizance.”
