The opposition must take into consideration the establishment’s qualities, in order that March 1 may not repeat, Petros Makeyan, the leader of the Democratic Motherland Party, the Armenian National Congress (ANC) member, said during a conversation with www.aravot.am. According to him, the establishment has not learned the lesson of March 1.
In response to our question whether it was possible that the events of March1 would repeat, if the Armenian National Congress did not win the intended votes, he said, “If the establishment rigs the election again, the people will rise up and the opposition will lead them. In that instance, the bill on the state of emergency that was passed yesterday means that the establishment sends a psychological message to the public and the opposition that it is ready to use force against our people.”
In his words, the goal of the opposition is to keep that tide of social enthusiasm at high level, in order that the establishment doesn’t even think of provoking such incidents.
