This January, the sugar price decreased by 0.3%. The prices of fish, dairy products, eggs, butter, fruits and vegetables decreased in February. According to Mr. Martirosyan’s data, there was an increase in prices in January by 3.6 percent, compared to last December and a decrease in prices in February 2012 by 0.9 percent.
Gurgen Martirosyan explained the increase in prices in January by the fact that some dairy products had become more expensive, assuring, “The increase in prices in January and the decrease in prices in February are normal for the Armenian market.” Talking about the increase in flour prices, the statistician stated that the price of high-quality flour had increased by 0.3% in January and by 4.4% in February and the bread prices had increased by 0.1% in January. The pork, mutton, sausage prices, as well as the prices of non-food commodities, such as gas and diesel fuel, have increased.
