During a debate at Hayeli (mirror) Club, Mr. Ayvazyan directly or indirectly insulted Mr. Martirosyan with “hey, dude,” “you are not in the National Assembly to count heads,” “don’t enter the place, which you cannot leave,” “do you want to hit below the belt?” and other phrases. When it came to the mining business and Vardan Ayvazyan stated that no one had his own mine in Armenia, Armen Martirosyan hadn’t managed to put forward a counterargument that they had just taken it “as a concession,” Ayvazyan flung, “If anyone ventures, except for crying behind his mama’s skirt, to enter this business, then I will say that he is a real man. Are you entering that business with me now, huh?”
During a conversation with www.aravot.am, we tried to find out from Mr. Martirosyan whether he had been offended by Vardan Ayvazyan’s words, to which he responded, “It is normal that he reacts emotionally.” According to Armen Martirosyan “you had better remember,” “hey, dude” phrases are unacceptable, “But I think he said that in the heat of the moment, because he has behaved himself so far.” Mr. Martirosyan doesn’t think that getting behind mama’s skirt referred to him, “Because there is no wish, neither is there competition, in order that someone makes such an accusation. It doesn’t have anything to do with manliness. It is not manliness, when one gets some stuff, abusing his office. The manliness is, when one earns his living by the sweat of his brow. That is manliness.”
Mr. Martirosyan explained Vardan Ayvazyan’s emotional responds by the fact that he had touched upon painful issues; that was why he had responded like that.
