www.aravot.am inquired from businessman Arman Sahakyan, the owner of Shirak FC, why such a successful businessman wanted to appear in the parliament, what he was going to do there, whether he had a task of becoming famous or promoting his business, as many MPs did, using the parliament as leverage.
Let us mention that Arman Sahakyan is going to become an MP from Gyumri through the majoritarian representation – he is one of ten top taxpayers in the country, the founder of Sovrano LLC dealing with the export of food commodities and beverage, as well as Press Stand and a set of mass media. “I don’t have a task of expanding my business, at least not using the National Assembly, because there is basically no leverage to expand business in the National Assembly or perhaps I just don’t know. It might sound a bit primitive, perhaps it is a very banal subject, but I assure you I am entering the National Assembly, because I love my country and want to live in my country. If I didn’t have Shirak, my family could live in Monaco under the best conditions. This is my choice and I don’t want to live unconcerned and complain,” said our interlocutor.
In response to a question of one of the journalists whether Arman Sahakyan perceived himself an oligarch and shared the notion that the Republican Party, as if getting rid of oligarchs in the parliament, involved new businessmen and oligarchs through the majoritarian representation, Arman Sahakyan said, “Certainly, no. I don’t perceive myself an oligarch, but I want to make one thing clear, I have always followed that subject – even today I don’t perceive myself a businessman, I have been doing business since the age of 17-18, I worked in the wholesale trade for 7-8 years, many market owners from Gyumri know me personally, perhaps I loaded cars of the majority of them with goods, however, I don’t think I have been a businessman since the moment I became engaged in this. Businessman should go to work at 9 am and work till the evening; he should know everything, manage everything. If I don’t go to my company to work, then I am not a businessman, I become an investor, if we use the right term. It has nothing to do with the National Assembly what a man has or doesn’t have. I don’t manage any of my businesses already, managing is a different thing for me, it means going to work, being well-informed, personally making decisions and promoting them. If I answer 2-3 phone calls every day, then, unfortunately, I am not a businessman.”
In response to a question of www.aravot.am who he entrusted his business to, who managed, Arman Sahakyan said, “Professional managers.”
