Shushan Petrosyan Will Fight Everyone in the National Assembly

March 13,2012 15:54

During a conversation with www.aravot.am today, singer Shushan Petrosyan confirmed the information that she had already submitted the required documentation to become a member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and she saw herself in the parliament in the short run.

We inquired how she perceived legislating activities, what she was going to do in the parliament. “What I always do, I will fight everyone,” joked the singer. Shortly afterwards she added, “I don’t know what I will do yet.” She said that she was angry with the comment in the press that at least one member of their family should be in the National Assembly, “I don’t have anything to do with another person (she means her aunt Alvard Petrosyan – G.H.). Thank God, I have achieved everything in my life by myself; I haven’t applied to anyone for implementation of any of my projects. What that person has to do with me, given the fact that I don’t even communicate with her.”

In response to our observation that artist had to be free and that appearing in the parliament on a party list was binding in itself, Shushan Petrosyan said, “It depends on the person, servile people can be perceived bound without it. If a person enjoys freedom, nothing can bind her. I will participate in deciding on issues that concern me, all the same, regardless of oaths and party stuff, I do everything as a citizen – those are just formalities. The important thing is that a person doesn’t betray her principles.” Was her talking about Nzhdeh during a press conference the other day a coincidence or a sort of “announcement” of becoming an RPA member? “I didn’t talk about him deliberately… I am just not convinced that people who talk about that person all the time know Nzhdeh, his writings, letters and I was offered an opportunity to become familiar with his letters while performing a play. We really had a big philosopher who, besides being a soldier and a strategist, was devoted to his motherland and was not understood by his contemporaries. I didn’t know at the time that things would start moving and I would try to enter that system unable to bear complaints,” said the singer.

And why has she decided to become a member of the RPA and not, let’s say, the Rule of Law Party (RLP), the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) or the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF)? Shushan Petrosyan said in response that she wouldn’t say, if she said, we would write.
