Today the presentation of the Armenian Diaspora virtual museum, www.armdiasporamuseum.com, took place at the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia. The project aims at representing the history of the Armenian people, reasserting the idea “Armenians are one nation, regardless of the place of residence and the motherland of all Armenians is Armenia” through emphasizing the connection between the Diaspora Armenians and the Republic of Armenia.

Hranush Hakobyan, the Minister of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia, made an opening statement at the presentation noting that thanks to realization of another pan-Armenian project, an opportunity had been offered to summarize the activities of various Diaspora organizations and Armenian cultural values on one stage, “What Turks dispersed was raised during time by people who had settled down in various countries and who have preserved their national traditions.” Armenian leaves a trail wherever he is,” stated the minister. Ms. Hakobyan added that the symbol of the electronic museum, pomegranate, symbolized the Armenian land and the arils of it symbolized Armenians. Let us mention that one can find information on the history and current activities of the Armenian Diaspora communities and the Armenian churches and monuments, as well as parishes of the Armenian Apostolic Church in the electronic museum. In the section called The Armenian Genealogy, there is a project The Armenian Family Tree, which aims at creating a pan-Armenian family tree through researches.

As Lilit Makaryan, one of the founders of The Armenian Family Tree, stated, the project helps Armenian families find lost relatives. “We have set up the family tree of around 1600 families since 2007. The history of the oldest of those starts from 1959 and the biggest family tree has 965 members.” Let us add that the trilingual – Armenian, English, Russian – electronic museum of the Armenian Diaspora will be also translated into Western Armenian in the short run. The government gave 6 million AMD for implementation of the project.
