“Why Do You Think I Am an Aborigine?” Ruben Hayrapetyan Says About Beating Journalists (Video)

March 15,2012 16:53

Ruben Hayrapetyan, the president of the Football Federation of Armenia, clarified during a conversation with www.aravot.am today whether he was going to beat journalists after leaving the office. Let us remind that saying during a press conference that the press had written that he was engaged in selling drugs and weapons, he promised that he would punish after leaving the office and stated the exact type of punishment specifically for journalists, “Don’t you know what I am going to do? I am going to punish, to beat.”

In response to our question whether we should expect him to beat journalists, as he was going to leave the office soon, Mr. Hayrapetyan denied that he said “beat,” “Did I say I would beat? I didn’t say ‘beat.’ Since you are telling a lie right now… I said you know how I take care of things. So, I am going to make friends with all of you now. How many times have you seen that I was engaged in beating? I grew out of it long ago to beat anyone.” We requested a clarification what other means there were for taking care of things, he went into detail, “I.e. we will go somewhere, drink coffee and discuss, let’s say, the condition of some sphere in our country. One day, for example, I may invite all journalists to a stand-up party, we will sit, talk and communicate with each other. Why do you think I am an aborigine?” In response to our observation why there was an impression that Ruben Hayrapetyan had bad relations with journalists, perhaps it was because of Grisha Balasanyan’s case, Mr. Hayrapetyan assured that he personally knew Grisha, who he was, “Grisha also admits who he is. Don’t try to get to know a person by Grisha’s case! Generally a journalist tries to exaggerate, underestimate a certain case, so as to create a public opinion. Communicate with me and you will see whether I am that kind of a person or not. When I say ‘using my methods,’ my methods are much more humane. People love me as a well-doer, as a kind man, certainly being a strong man. And only a strong man can do good. Weak and pitiable people do bad things.”

In response to a question of a journalist during the press conference whether it was possible that some episodes of his activities had played a certain role that he wasn’t going to appear in the parliament – e.g., cursing journalists – Mr. Hayrapetyan assured, “No, I didn’t curse journalists. Grisha Balasanyan wanted to hear a curse and he did. I didn’t curse him, he could switch it off and not listen, if he listened carefully, why am I to blame for that?”

The fact that your friend Edik Grigoryan was nominated instead of you has caused various comments. They say that he is actually your substitute and will do in the parliament what you say. In response to these observations we had made, Ruben Hayrapetyan said, “Have you ever seen an MP who would be able to do things, other than legislative ones. Whose will is he going to carry out? You are a mature girl, what would I want him to do? Those are just rumors.”
