The Armenian Communist Party (HKK) and the Progressive Communist Party of Armenia (HAKK) Will Present Their Common List in 2 Days

March 20,2012 13:12

At the plenary meeting that took place on March 17, the Armenian Communist Party bureau verified the HKK list. Let us remind that the Armenian Communist Party and the Progressive Communist Party of Armenia will participate in the upcoming election with a common list. The first place of the Communist list comprised of around 60 people was taken by first secretary of the HKK central committee Ruben Tovmasyan, the second place by first secretary of HAKK central committee Vazgen Safaryan, the third place by secretary of the HKK political council Tachat Sargsyan, the forth by the secretary of the Leninakan central committee secretary, the fifth by the head of the youth wing of the HKK central committee.

During a conversation with www.aravot.am, Ruben Tovmasyan, the first secretary of the HKK central committee, informed that the fundraising results would be summarized today. Let us remind that the communists called for their supporters to help them in terms of raising money for the election deposit. The day after tomorrow, when all documents are brought together, the HKK will submit its list to the Central Electoral Committee (CEC). There will be no candidates from this party for majoritarian representation. In response to our question whether he dreaded engaging in struggle with oligarchs, nick-named people and underworld leaders, Ruben Tovmasyan said, “I don’t dread anything. The people are sick of them. I say I will bring about free education, free healthcare and social justice… why should I dread these? Let people who have robbed and accumulated wealth dread.”

Tovmasyan isn’t afraid of being defeated either, “When a person engages in struggle, he must think that there is also defeat and if one doesn’t engage in struggle, he is defeated from the beginning.”

Vazgen Safaryan, the first secretary of the HAKK central committee, thinks that the communists will surely be a success in this election, otherwise, they wouldn’t participate. In response to a question what made him believe in the success, Comrade Safaryan noted, “The fact that there is social tension, unemployment and emigration in the country. There are problems which are little voiced in the National Assembly and are voiced inconsistently. I think that given the 70 years’ road traveled by the Communist Party, people should properly appreciate our consistent activities to restore employment, healthcare, educational system, i.e. realities of the past and some of the core provisions of them and vote for us. We are the force that can voice problems of social justice in the National Assembly and be consistent in solving them.” Vazgen Safaryan also says that they will try “to inject political culture in the people” by participating in this election, in order that they aren’t deceived by and attracted to all kinds of underworld leaders and their “minute contributions” and defend their right to make a free choice. Communists will spread permanent ideas.
