The public already knows about the “war” between Armen Ashotyan and Vahe Enfiajyan on Facebook. The debate of the two figures in that field has transcended the political field, switching to the level of personal insults. Presently, when we are in the run-up to the campaign and all the forces urge each other to form a culture of political correctness and talk about forming political elite, www.aravot.am tried to understand what the reason for a conflict between A. Ashotyan and V. Enfiajyan was and whether such working style was appropriate for the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), which are a part of the political elite today. V. Enfiajyan said in this regard, “All figures of the PAP have always called for political tolerance. However, since certain politicians can always allow themselves to form an atmosphere of insult and mockery, which doesn’t last a day or a month or a year – no matter what political force it is, there is a moment when it should get an appropriate response. Certainly, what happened is an unpleasant thing.” In response to our questions what had made them show such an attitude, what problem they had had that they couldn’t solve and perhaps it would have been better, if all that hadn’t come out and they discussed the issues with each other, V. Enfiajyan said, “You had better ask Mr. Ashotyan that question, who, as a minister, for example, is on social networks at different times during the day.”
www.aravot.am also listened to Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan’s opinion, “I was compelled to stoop to that level once and I promised not to respond to any provocation again. I will continue expressing my personal opinion on my Facebook page. And I will continue expressing my position on the political stage after the start of the campaign.”
