“It is a disease, they should see a doctor,” Aram Sargsyan, the leader of the Democratic Party of Armenia, said during a conversation with www.aravot.am about the phenomenon of election bribery.
In response to our question for what reason, in particular, the voter should cast his vote for this party, Mr. Sargsyan said, “We think that there will be nothing good with this system, therefore, we want to change it. In my opinion, the policy should be pursued not partially, but fully, that is the reason why we will create workplaces, will diminish the shadow economy, will raise pensions – so, there are many issues to be solved.” In response to an observation of www.aravot.am that then the Communists would blame the Democratic Party for stealing socialist ideas, A. Sargsyan said, “Saying such a thing is naïve. The idea belongs to the one who implements it, who will be able to really implement it.”
We inquired whether an invitation had been sent to them before establishing an interparty staff, A. Sargsyan responded, “About the first meeting, no, then the organizer called, apologized that there had been a misunderstanding. We say we are not uninvited guests. I cannot sign a document with the institution that is the godfather of all that fraud. It is a different matter, if all
nine parties gather and sign a document that they are obliged not to use any kind of election fraud.”
