Today www.aravot.am inquired from Vahan Hovhannisyan, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) parliamentary group leader, why they dissolved the opposition and they didn’t work in an organized manner, in order to get more seats through majoritarian representation. We meant not endorsing non-partisan Satik Seyranyan in no. 4 electoral district, in particular. The Armenian National Congress (ANC) and the Heritage Party had already nominated different candidates in that electoral district – Aram Manukyan and Zaruhi Postanjyan respectively. In this regard, Vahan Hovhannisyan responded, “What dissolution are you talking about, for whom do party candidates work, for me? It is obvious that they work for their lists for proportional representation and why do I have to endorse them? We do not participate with a joint list in proportional representation. Even the coalition is going to participate in the election separately, why should we think about working together with the opposition?” In response to our question whether it was not a problem for them that the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) would increase its seats thanks to the majoritarian representation, Mr. Hovhannisyan said, “Our task is the following – if not the ARF, then whoever one elects, there will be the same situation, nothing will change.”
