Hmayak Hovhannisyan, the “godfather” at the joint staff, regularly idolized the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), its leader, made the journalists “shut” their mouths, when they asked questions about tractors and talked about Gagik Tsarukyan with particular admiration. After not getting a seat, all that has disappeared. Today, during a conversation with www.aravot.am, when we reminded about his idolizing the PAP, Hmayak Hovhannisyan didn’t agree, “On the contrary, they wrote that I said that Gagik Tsarukyan was not the God, it is the reason why he got angry with me. However those are rumors, I didn’t allow myself to say such a thing, because I am a religious person, I generally don’t compare any mortal with the God. It is unacceptable for a religious person.”
As for shivering, when the name of the PAP was said, according to Mr. Hovhannisyan, “I am a member of a team and I am a moral person. If I agreed to be included in that team, I should necessarily be useful to that team, it is a criterion of morality. If I work, everywhere, where I cooperated with any political team, with whom I cooperated, I tried to be useful to them, I was very useful.” In response to our question what he had contributed to the PAP, Hmayak Hovhannisyan said, “Plus 15%. Because do you remember, when the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) left the coalition, there were still 10 months left till the 2008 election. It didn’t manage to create an image of an opposition during those 10 months. It is a very difficult thing. I have done what the ARF didn’t manage for 2 months.” In response to a question whether he had been thanked for his “contributing” 15% of votes, he said, “You know, when I do my job and I do a high-quality job, the public notices that, it is the most profound gratitude.”
We reminded that he had regularly stated before being included in the PAP list that when Gagik Tsarukyan invited him, he would go, he had wanted to be included in the PAP list, he responded, “Gagik Tsarukyan has invited me for 5 years. The moor wants to stand by the people, therefore, he has left that slough.” The moor is H. Hovhannisyan. In response to our question if it had been a slough, why he had wanted to appear in that slough, he said that he hadn’t known that it would become a slough, “The only change to the National Assembly is that Vartan Oskanian and the Armenian National Congress (ANC) have come.” In response to our observation that he and the ANC had paid mutual compliments at the joint staff and now he said that the ANC was “out,” Hmayak Hovhannisyan said, “No, I didn’t pay compliments. Actually I don’t agree that every political force bases its prospects not on its own deeds, but on the relationship between the other forces.” Hmayak Hovhannisyan didn’t agree that ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrossian had managed to drive a wedge between the PAP and the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), “I wouldn’t say that Levon Ter-Petrossian had managed to do that. Another person managed to do that, so, think who.”
