Today www.aravot.am asked sociologist Aharon Adibekyan whether people in Karabakh believed his numbers, since people in Armenia didn’t. Aharon Adibekyan has conducted a public opinion poll regarding the Karabakh election this time. It has turned out that Aharon Adibekyan has conducted another public opinion poll for himself and has become convinced that 75% of the population in Armenia believes his public opinion polls, “We conduct a public opinion poll not under our name, we have test questions, we know what percentage trusts us.”
In response to our remark that the entrance of Gallup into Armenia in the pre-election period had been explained by the fact that his rating was low, no one trusted his numbers anymore and a new company had been brought in order that they might trust it a little bit. In response, Aharon Adibekyan said, “Now whose data has the election confirmed – mine.” In response to our remark that he was close to the government, he knew what percentage of the election would be rigged, therefore, their data corresponded to each other, Adibekyan said, “What does it mean I am close? Gallup isn’t far from the government, is it? I predicted and signed in front of Hovik Abrahamyan next to his numbers – 42%-45% for the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), 32%-35% for the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) and I said who would pass.”
Moreover, Aharon Adibekyan stated in regard to the Armenian National Congress (ANC), “If there hadn’t been Levon Ter-Petrossian’s faint, they would have gained a lot of votes. They lost 3% only because of the faint, which of you sensed that? When he stood up, not 3%, but 1.5% was returned. There is an issue of trust, if that man gets sick, who will replace him?”

In response to a question whether the election hadn’t been rigged, in his opinion, Mr. Adibekyan said, “The election is rigged in three ways. First one enters and stuffs ballots, second who writes the final result just puts a comma in a different place. Those two are supervised by the government. There was no violation in the electoral districts in this period, it was supervised. They counted the ballots, everyone recorded. If it was there, it was outside. There was no violation, there was pressure, influence, bribery. And it is our common problem, not only the government’s problem. I have once said that there are three ways to fight against prostitution. In New York, they fine the one who gives money, they say you bastard, why you bribe and seduce her, in France, they blame the prostitute, they say why you have gone out on the streets, there is a social program. In Switzerland, they tell both of them why you violate our moral norms. Now whom should be condemn – the one who gives money, the one who stakes it or both?”
As for Aharon Adibekyan and believing and not believing him, he explained that when he had said that members of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) would win little percentage, members of the ARF had become hostile toward him, when he had said that the
Communists would lose, the Communists had become hostile toward him. Mr. Adibekyan assured by this that he was objective, “I was happy today that journalists of The Republic of Armenia newspaper didn’t participate in the press conference. Where is H1?”
We also inquired whether residents of Karabakh would not suspect that he carried out Bako Sahakyan’s instructions, since he had praised Bako Sahakyan today, he replied, “Since I am originally from Shushi, they treat me completely differently there.”
