www.aravot.am inquired during a conversation with Mariam Sukhudyan whether during the protest organized in Khosrov Reserve yesterday, there had been obstacles and whether there had been responses already. M. Sukhudyan replied, “There were no obstacles, but the owners
of the half-finished building in Khosrov Reserve had left trails – for example, rinds of watermelon just eaten – but the keepers were gone.”
M. Sukhudyan stated that they would continue reminding the government and the public that the half-finished building in Khosrov Reserve had to be dismantled and the nature reserve regime must be returned to Khosrov Reserve. In particular, during a discussion at the office of the Minister of Nature Protection, environmentalists will take a strong position and will explicitly state their demands – i.e. to dismantle the half-finished building in the territory of the nature reserve, stop road building in that territory, punish those who signed the decision, by which a part of the nature reserve was given the status of a national park, ban ecotourism in the territory of the nature reserve and adjust the Armenian legislation to the international standards.

M. Sukhudyan went into detail, “We demand that after dismantlement, compensation for dismantlement damages is also paid. In reality, if the decision was changed, the half-finished building should have been dismantled, but we haven’t seen that. A question arises, if the building is not allowed, why is it preserved? Whereas oligarchs have been visiting that territory more often recently, moreover, the territory is watched over by keepers of the company that owns the half-finished building. However, that territory belongs to the state, so what do the keepers of the mentioned company do there? Actually, no victory is final in our country. We struggled in Mashtots Park too, but now they have found a different way, the project of building a cinema in the part of the park that is on Aram Street is ready.”
