The trial court of the Kentron and Nork-Marash communities rejected the petition of the Civilitas foundation filed on August 18, by which it demanded to suspend the investigation into money laundering launched by the National Security Service on 8/25/2012. Thus www.aravot.am talked to Salbi Ghazaryan to get the details of the case and her comments. She stated, “Probably you should ask the NSS investigators about the reason for rejection. It was clear that the petition was changed; there was no mention of the decision on dirty money and money laundering there, whereas the decision was on that very issue. Instead, there was a different tendency – the NSS also defends the interests of Civilitas with this case. However, the fact that the NSS had to take responsibility for every NGO’s interest, crime and obligation is unacceptable. The approach that one claims guiltiness and then says nothing about it, on the contrary, turns it into something else, explaining that we want to defend the interests of Civilitas, is unacceptable. It is not serious anymore; it is neither criminal nor political.” We inquired whether S. Ghazaryan had the answer to the question why the attitude toward Civilitas had suddenly changed. Our interlocutor replied, “The answer is the following – there is no dirty money, no money laundering here.”
S. Ghazaryan informed that they would appeal to the Court of Appeals, in accordance with the law.
