“If there already was a politician notable on the political stage who could aspire after the leadership, I would try to understand my colleague. However, I don’t see such a politician around whom people can rally. No one sees it. There is no powerful politician on the political stage who can lead people with a wave of his hand, a phrase or a word. There is one and we stand by his side. It is Levon Ter-Petrossian,” today, during a conversation with www.aravot.am, Zoya Tadevosyan, an ANC member, replied in this manner to our question whether she shared Sos Gimishyan’s opinion that new leaders were needed.
Sos Gimishyan, a member of the ANC and the leader of the Christian Democratic Renaissance Party, said to www.hayeli.am that the Congress had chosen a wrong tactics, which is why people left the Congress. According to him, the ANC needed new personalities, new leaders, in order that the people’s trust in the ANC is restored.
In response to our observation that there was disappointment, the people’s disappointment, anyway, Zoya Tadevosyan said, “There is disappointment between spouses too; there is disappointment among siblings too. Disappointment is that everyone considers the solution to every issue, every problem from his own perspective. So does it mean that if we don’t think over an issue together, it is clear that I will be disappointment or you will be disappointed, what is the problem here? Today they are disappointed, but at the end of the day, tomorrow, when it comes to solving a very important issue – we have a very important issue, an issue of saving the motherland, to solve – if there is nothing else, the issue of saving the motherland is enough, it is always there, they will rally around that issue.”
We inquired whether the fact that the pivotal figures of the Congress left the ANC was not a reason for serious disappointment. Zoya Tadevosyan responded, “There was an issue of serious contradiction, the men’s solutions to this or that political issue were in serious contradiction with each other. I am not disappointed, I understand, I consider it as an ordinary thing. Even the most loved son can separate from his parents.”

In response to our question whether she disagreed with the Congress regarding the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) or any other issue, Ms. Tadevosyan said, “Can there be no disagreement? Do you think there can be no disagreement among thinking people? There can be no disagreement only in a herd. And among the other intellectual, thinking people who don’t share an interest, there can always be disagreement. When people are united by interests, they become a gang. There are no disagreements among them. If there are any, one day someone will find a dead body somewhere. I think those disagreements and clashes are more acceptable. I am very happy that say, inside the ANC, there are constant talks about disagreements between the ANC and the PAP. What is the problem? I don’t disappear from the political stage as Davit Shahnazaryan, but not accepting this opinion at this point in time, he is still a member of the Pan-Armenian National Movement (PANM), he is still in the ANC, but he leaves the ANC as if to appeal that decision already made. We are a team that has travelled a common road, a team that is not united by an interest. We are not united by an interest; we are a political team that rallies around common solutions to ideological and very important issues. Only a clash of opinions – and never an interest – can yield such results.”
