On Saturday, Sayat Gareginyan, the long-serving deputy head of the investigation department, the region of Shirak, who had been appointed the acting head of the investigation department was dismissed by the order of Vladimir Gasparyan, the Chief of Police of the Republic of Armenia. He was dismissed from the system, because his nephew Davit Gareginyan, a student of the Medical University, had stabbed a person in recent days.
Let us remind that 5 days ago the son of Samvel Gareginyan, Sayat Gareginyan’s brother and a dermatologist famous in Gyumri, stabbed 34-year-old Artak Muradyan outside the building at 42a Haghtanak Avenue, Gyumri, injuring his buttocks and waist. According to Artak Muradyan’s parents, the reason was the fact that the town hall had installed a garage on the territory outside the building legally belonging to them. The neighbors, Doctor Gareginyan’s family, took this fact hard – coming from Yerevan, their son Davit stabbed Artak Muradyan and fled. As for what Davit’s uncle, an investigator, had to do with that story, according to the injured person’s mother, Ofelia Nersisyan, Sayat Gareginyan sent police officers after them, called her son, Artak Muradyan, on his cell phone, threatened him, in order that they didn’t start the construction of the garage. Although during a conversation with www.aravot.am, Sayat Gareginyan called the accusations against him a libel stating that people in the town knew him well and he couldn’t have done such a thing, the Chief of Police of the Republic of Armenia has dismissed him for an abuse of office and being discussed in the press. Although, according to our sources, this incident was just an excuse and the reasons were deeper. www.aravot.am inquired of Ashot Aharonyan, the head of the public relations department of the police of the Republic of Armenia, why he has been dismissed, in response to which the latter just informed that Sayat Gareginyan had been transferred to the reserve.
Let us mention that Sayat Gareginyan is the second high-ranking official of the investigation department, the region of Shirak, to be fired by Vladimir Gasparyan. Let us remind that the police of the Republic of Armenia dismissed Karush Tovmasyan, the long-serving head of the investigation department, the region of Shirak, for cursing journalists and humiliating the journalist’s profession only 3 months ago. Mr. Tovmasyan went ballistic when fulfilling our journalistic duty, we “made a mistake” and inquired of him whether the news that his daughter’s husband, Garnik Grigoryan, had also participated in the shooting in Gyumri because of a cook.
