The conflict between Vardan Ayvazyan and the Global Gold Mining Company continues. The Global Gold Mining Company made a statement yesterday and explained that all the statements made by V. Ayvazyan against them didn’t correspond to the reality.
Let us mention that the fuss was caused by the fact that on September 6, the US Marshals Service, Southern District of New York, issued a writ of execution against Vardan Ayvazyan and in favor of Global Gold Mining (GGM) LLC. Consequently, according to the decision in favor of GGM, thirty seven million five hundred and thirty-seven thousand nine hundred and seventy-eight US dollars and two cents ($37,537,978.02) must be paid by Vardan Ayvazyan.
As for what legal technicalities there were and in the end, whether V. Ayvazyan or the mentioned company or the Armenian society is the aggrieved party, www.aravot.am tried to find out during a conversation with lawyer Artur Grigoryan, a member of the Teghut Protection civil initiative. He stated, “I don’t care about the relations between the Global Gold Mining Company and Vardan Ayvazyan. I care about Vardan Ayvazyan’s criminal activities against the environment in Armenia. The American organization, which is a thief like him, is engaged in the same criminal activities as Vardan Ayvazyan. They deserve each other. It is a different matter how should Vardan Ayvazyan bear the responsibility for the damage inflicted on the environment in Armenia. He should be held accountable for this and not regarding Global Gold Mining.”

A. Grigoryan communicated to us that lawyers usually thought that there was no mechanism guaranteeing mutual implementation of court decisions between the Republic of Armenia and the US, therefore, there would be a problem with implementing the given court decision.
In response to our question what damage, in sum, V. Ayvazyan had inflicted on Armenia, A. Grigoryan said, “The damage he inflicted on Armenia is thousands of times bigger than the sum mentioned by the New York court.”
