November 30,2012 22:56

“Volsky has made many interesting statements. It is his opinion, and perhaps there are politicians, also political forces, that are not ready for that yet,” Karine Achemyan, a Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP, made this comment during a conversation with www.aravot.am on the statement of Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, a vice-president of the European People’s Party, a member of the European Parliament and a vice-president of the EURONEST Parliamentary Assembly, about involving the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) in EURONEST.

Let us remind that during a forum organized in the National Assembly today, Jacek Saryusz-Wolski said in response to a question whether the NKR could be involved in EURONEST enjoying an observer status; since everyone knew that Azerbaijan made aggressive

statements, whether he didn’t think that the presence of the NKR would become a straightjacket: “It is impossible. The answer is no. If the NKR is involved in EURONEST, EURONEST will collapse, because Azerbaijan will withdraw from it. Let us not burden our ship with heavy cargo.”

According to Karine Achemyan: “We should do whatever it takes to be able to avoid strong statements, also hasty solutions. Because we need to negotiate, anyway, but we also attach great importance to Nagorno-Karabakh’s involvement in that process.”

In response to our observation that it came out that Azerbaijan was basically the foundation of EURONEST, and if Azerbaijan withdrew, it would collapse, she said: “It is his opinion for the moment, and opinions change with time.”
