February 10,2015 13:41

“In the last two years, Azerbaijan’s activities, including in this format, have been so destructive that it is not surprising”, so responded member of the Armenian delegation to Euronest of the Eastern Partnership Parliamentary Assembly, also RPA faction MP Karine Achemyan, in response to the question of Aravot.am as to how she will interpret the opinion of the Azerbaijani partner that Armenia’s presidency in the Euronest is unacceptable for them.

Note that Head of Azerbaijani delegation to Euronest Elxan Süleymanov announced that Armenia’s presidency is unacceptable for them, and the Azerbaijani delegation will not participate in the activities held in Armenia. In this regard, Karine Achemyan recalled, “They have constantly obstructed and their presence in the Euronest summits has never been duly. They have constantly mentioned that they did not give importance to this format. Recently, they either do not participate at all in the activities of this structure, or have come up with non-constructive statements, or attended the Euronest session with unduly delegation”.

We were interested to know what impact the Azerbaijani statement may have, whether it is possible that the co-chairing may be cancelled, or no sessions be held in Armenia, Karine Achemyan replied, “Such a thing is not possible. The Euronext member countries are well aware of their sentiments and approach, and they are also well aware of our approach, and how we express and how we work as compared with them. This statement cannot have any effect, on the contrary, we will conduct the Euronest conference in Armenia, and we are planning to implement all the tasks that we are brought to us, especially pertaining to the centennial of the Armenian Genocide.”
