“He Should Have Waited for Ter-Petrossian’s Decision,” the Position of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) on Bagratyan’s Decision to Announce His Candidacy

December 24,2012 22:30

According to Lyudmila Sargsyan, an ANC MP, Hrant Bagratyan, an ANC MP, rushed to state about his nomination.

“It would have been better, if Bagratyan had waited for Ter-Petrossian’s decision and then either had decided to discuss the issue of his nomination in the ANC political council or had made a decision of self-nomination. It would have been better, if everything had been agreed upon,” Ms. Sargsyan said to www.aravot.am.

In response to our question whether the ANC considered Bagratyan’s decision treachery, Ms. Sargsyan said: “I hope that if Ter-Petrossian announces his candidacy, Hrant Bagratyan will

change his decision. We have been colleagues, friends too. I don’t rush to make assessments; I think that waiting would have been better.” She also didn’t agree that ANC members’ proposals, opinions or programs that they put forward were edited, and talking about Mr. Bagratyan’s remark at the Freedom Party congress today that “we have our opinions, after all, and you will hear them today. You will hear that they substantially differ. Today you will hear both economic and political programs intact. So not edited, because in the ANC, they would naturally have been edited,” she said again that she didn’t want to make assessments.

The ANC MP assured that everyone was looking forward to the ANC leader’s nomination, and the news about the ANC’s disintegration didn’t correspond to reality, “We will have chances to challenge the current administration and win only if he is nominated.”
