“You say Artsakh was given by the former, but you gave Armenia; what do you have to say here…” Hrant Bagratyan to Nikol Pashinyan

July 07,2023 15:00

Former Prime Minister of Armenia, Leader of “Freedom” Party Hrant Bagratyan, referred to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s statements that the former authorities handed over Artsakh. “When you say the formers gave it, will you say what else the formers gave, because whatever bad thing happens next, you will say that the formers did it?”

Syunik Road, the Azerbaijanis say it is a corridor; we say it is a transit road; who gave it? You are now repairing the railway; you have opened a couple of roads, at least two. You gave Armenia; what do you have to say here if you can’t know that the former ones gave it? He wants a way through Jermuk; he says, I have to come; I must go out through Yeraskh. The problem is here; the wolf’s head is here,” said Bagratyan. He mentioned that anti-Russian sentiments are being created in Armenia.

“They sit down and say that the Russians gave them the corridor. Now I ask you a question: who gave the corridor, your prime minister, whom you protect, signed the corridor? Secondly, you said the Russians are deceiving us; you went to the West. In the West, there are two problems related to the corridor: firstly, the Russians should not be there; secondly, we need that corridor, let Azerbaijan be there and block Iran’s path with it.

That ugly expression by the US Ambassador to Armenia was a slap to us aimed at Azerbaijan. It was the country that was obliged to settle the Artsakh issue for 30 years as co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, so now speak,” said Bagratyan.

It should be noted that the press conference was held before the explanation of the US ambassador.

According to Hrant Bagratyan, the leadership of Armenia leans one way to Russia and the other to the USA but sees that the Americans cannot force Aliyev to recognize the territorial integrity of Armenia at least. “But I don’t think that they will swallow Artsakh so easily; the people of Artsakh will fight, and I believe that help will come from Armenia.”
