A Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP Claims That They Didn’t Make and Will Not Make an Agreement With Bagratyan

January 10,2013 16:50

“There has been nothing like that, whatsoever. I assure you. There has been no agreement, even an intention to make an agreement with Bagratyan. Nothing like that can happen,” Mkrtich Minasyan, an RPA MP, responded to the Congress members’ accusations that Hrant Bagratyan might cooperate with the government during a conversation with www.aravot.am.

As for why Levon Ter-Petrossian, the leader of the Armenian National Congress (ANC), didn’t announce his candidacy, the RPA MP has his own explanation. “The age is not the issue. The age is just an excuse. Levon Ter-Petrossian is a serious politician, he had seriously analyzed the situation, public sentiment and the public’s attitude toward his political force, and comparing the resources, he came to a conclusion that everything that has a beginning has an end. He understood that truth.”

In response to our question whether the wrong calculations with regard to the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) could cause the passiveness of the ANC these days, he said: “I don’t

know how much it contributed or instigated him to make that decision, but they made their calculations and realized that basically they had better not undermine their position.”
