“The bad things that happened stemmed from the time of Levon Ter-Petrossian”
Why were there few alerts from the administrative district of Erebuni during this election, since during all the previous elections this district stood out for abundance of election fraud, as well as fights and unpleasant incidences? In response to this question of www.aravot.am, Mher Sedrakyan, aka Mher of Tokhmakh, a Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP elected from the administrative district of Erebuni (pictured on the right), said: “No such thing could have happened in our district for two-three elections already, because those things have been fixed. By saying fixed, I mean we have cut everyone down to size, so that we have a normal election, and I got the instruction
from the RPA leadership. Admittedly, there were bad things; they stemmed from the time of Levon Ter-Petrossian.” In response to a question of www.panorama.am why his name had been mentioned at the time too, whether he had been the most outstanding person there, Sedrakyan said: “One shouldn’t say outstanding. I, as a person, was accepted by many people. I don’t praise myself, but I was accepted by many people, and since the time of Levon Ter-Petrossian when I was nominated as the head of the community, all the voter registration lists were rigged. The year I was elected an MP, then I wanted to become the head of the community; all the lists were distorted.” In response to an observation of www.aravot.am whether they had been distorted up to now, Sedrakyan said: “We have been fixing them up to now. However, they have become normal during the National Assembly election and this presidential election. We had sweated over those lists for so many years before we fixed them. My strong points were damaged by Ter-Petrossian’s men, so that my people would have to go to the court, get permission, then come to vote. And their strong points have remained intact. These are things that happened.” “Let people go; I respect my president, and I have stayed here, because I am working,” the RPA MP said in response to a question of www.panorama.am why he wasn’t next to Serzh Sargsyan in the central office of the RPA, as opposed to a set of members of the RPA. In response to a request to clarify whether the others were idle, in his opinion, Mher Sedrakyan said: “Well, the others do as much as they deem necessary.”
