“Everyone Can Get Mad the Way He Wants,” Armen Mazmanyan Says About Violet Grigoryan’s Hunger Strike

March 15,2013 17:09

Armen Mazmanyan, the rector of Yerevan Institute of Theater and Cinema, thinks that it is frivolity when intellectuals become active on the political stage once in 4 years. “It is her right; everyone can get mad the way he wants. In my opinion, it is understandable when you are engaged in politics every day. If you become active once in 4 years, in my opinion, it is frivolity,” Mr. Mazmanyan said to www.aravot.am, talking about writer Violet Grigoryan who had gone on a one-day hunger strike today. Mr. Mazmanyan doesn’t understand the purpose of R. Hovhannisyan’s hunger strike either. “What does he want to change? The purpose is lost, unclear. It is a political technology, a political process, the purpose of which is unclear.” He considered Raffi Hovhannisyan’s statement that “Serzh Sargsyan will swear in only over my dead body” as blackmail and expressed an idea that nothing would change. “And surely, no president of any country will stop the processes in the country because of that. It was an emotional and not-so-serious statement.”
