In order to have Paruyr Hayrikyan, a former candidate for president, treated abroad, the Government of the Republic of Armenia gave 20 million 500 thousand drams. For that sum, which amounts to $52 thousand, Hayrikyan will undergo an examination from scratch at a foreign clinic. Manya Ghazaryan, a member of the Union for National Self-Determination (UNSD) representative council, said this during a conversation with www.aravot.am, when we inquired what course of treatment Mr. Hayrikyan would undergo. “That money will not be passed from hand to hand; it will be transferred to the clinic in return for respective treatment. It is not clear yet how much will be needed for his treatment, the sum will be determined after the whole course of treatment,” Ms. Ghazaryan said. Currently, the former candidate for president is in Holland and will undergo a course of examination and treatment in a clinic there. According to Ms. Ghazaryan, Mr. Hayrikyan’s health did not improve due to the treatment in Armenia; what’s more, it deteriorated. “When we sent them the results of our examination, the
pictures, foreign doctors were surprised how underdeveloped we were in terms of technology. That is why he suffered from pain here for such a long time. He didn’t want to go, he wanted to stay and be treated in our country, but his condition was not improving.” According to Ms. Ghazaryan, Paruyr Hayrikyan will undergo serious surgery related to nerves in Holland. “According to the preliminary diagnosis, nerve fibers were seriously injured and intertwined in that section of the body; they should be separated and moved apart.” Paruyr Hayrikyan left for Holland, along with his wife.
