“Transparency International” organization has recently spread a message, where it was stated that the process of construction in the center of Yerevan city, and, as a result, destruction of historical and cultural monuments has launched, and especially, at large extent, it was found during the tenure of the chief architect Narek Sargsyan and with his direct participation. The company had posted links regarding the facts on destruction of monuments from the general prosecutor’s office website. The organization has also called respective bodies that while studying the abuse of official position of Chief Architect Narek Sargsyan and destruction of monuments by, to involve also Albert Bazeyan, Robert Nazaryan and Ervand Zakharyan holding the office of Yerevan Mayor in relevant years, in the examination. Aravot.am inquired for the former Yerevan Mayor Robert Nazaryan whether he is ready to be involved in that work. Mr. Nazaryan said that he does not know any “Transparency International”. “Probably it is some grant-eater.” After a while, he said that he had worked honestly during the years of his being a mayor, and if there were some dereliction of duties, he had raised them then. “During my term of office, a cultural monument has not been destroyed, and only one case happened: when building the North Avenue, the building of the Republican Party was moved from Tumanyan Street to its current location, everything was built with the same stones. Or what does it mean to involve me, I am involved, to do what, as a respondent, or, as what … There is a law, requirement of the law, if you are in a status by the law, I have to answer somewhere, I will give, in the moral field, if needed I will answer, with love, there are coexistence rules of loving people in Yerevan, I will give an answer there also, I will give but who is the international (meaning “Transparency International” G.H.), I do not even know it.”
