Today, in an interview with Aravot.am, the president of the Association of Political Scientists of Armenia Hmayak Hovhannisyan confirmed our information that the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Armenian community in Moscow Sargis Asatryan (in the photo) was arrested in mid-June in Moscow. The latter created in Armenia and for many years was the manager of the Youth Party of Armenia, who then handed over to the opposition, young Vahan Babayan, who is a PAP MP at present. According to our information, Sargis Asatryan’s arrest was a secret mode. His family members knew about it a week after the arrest when a search was conducted in the house. Asatryan was arrested on suspicion of keeping drugs, especially in large sizes. A search of his home revealed a vast number of expensive items. Now Asatryan is under arrest for three months, and is kept in Lefortovo Prison. Hmayak Hovhannisyan said that for now he does not want to talk about the details. It’s been a week since Aravot.am is trying to clarify this information from the Armenian Community Office in Moscow. To note that the office director is Norik Tevanyan. Having the phone numbers on our hand, we could not succeed to speak with the
representatives of the office, or Norik Tevanyan. Our telephone calls were left unanswered. We could not either clarify our information from the official authorities. Hmayak Hovhannisyan said that he learned the news about the arrest of Sargis Asatryan learned from his friends in Moscow, one evening. He said that he received the news with great sorrow, because he once was close to S. Asatryan, and generally has a positive attitude towards him. He also informed that Sargis Asatryan, recently, was in close relationship with Vigen Sargsyan, the Chief of Staff of the President Serzh Sargsyan. He even participated in the inauguration ceremony of the President, and has had meetings with the President Serzh Sargsyan, the President of the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan, and Vigen Sargsyan. “I was not in contact with him, no special connection. I knew that he has become friends with Norik Tevanyan in Moscow. And Norik Tevanyan has helped him to go there.”,- said Hmayak Hovhannisyan, adding that in his opinion, if Asatryan stayed in Armenia, he could benefit. “He probably went to Moscow, given to temptations, everything is a possibile.” We were interested in what Norik Tevanyan and Sargis Asatryan were busy with in Moscow.
In response to our question, Hmayak Hovhannisyan said,- “Tevanyan Norik is a friend to Serzh Sargsyan, call Serzh Sargsyan, he is his close friend… Serzh Sargsyan does not communicate with people like you and me. He communicates with Norik Tevanyan,”,- said he and laughed advising to call either one. To the point, according to rumors, at these days Norik Tevanyan is in Armenia. The latter, by birth, is from Akhalkalaki, and people say that he is in close relationship with NA MPs who are from Javakheti, by birth. “Tevanyan Norik has five people in the Parliament, Serzh Sargsyan has presented a gift of five seats at the Parliament to Tevanyan Norik. Tevanyan Norikn is the man who can just like this call Serzh Sargsyan as you call me. In short, this is our government.”,- said Hmayak Hovhannisyan and added with regard to Sargis Asatryan,- “It is very possible that he put this guy over there, has involved him in the criminal and will make him a scapegoat, they will give money to the top and come out. I learned about it yesterday, I was very excited, it’s a pity, he is a young guy. There is an Armenian saying: ‘You’re ok if you have an owner, otherwise the wolves come and get you’. People like Notik… what is Norik to do to get involved into the business of the Armenian community in Moscow… to take the boy and get him involved in other business, and he has involved in other business. Thousand and more things will fall on him and will make him a scapegoat. I respect the law, but we know how it happens.” By the way, let me remind you that Aravot daily in its June 6 issue was referred to the application of the American resident Aghabek Aghajanian addressed to the “Anti-Corruption” NGO in Armenia, informing that years ago Moscow resident Atomyan brothers have “hacked” about three million dollars of property. According to Aghajanyan, the process was “sponsored” by
the leaders of the Armenian community in Moscow, abusing the RF President’s name. The RF Anti-Corruption Commission has intervened in the case, and now it is in the Investigation Department of the Main Investigation Committee.
