Vaidotas Verba, the Ambassador of special missions of Lithuanian Foreign Ministry’s Eastern Partnership, believes that the priorities of the Eastern Partnership are, first, the energy independence, the regional cooperation with the Baltic Sea countries, and just the partnership with Eastern countries. He notes that one of the key priorities is also the open borders between the EU member countries. To the question of Aravot.am whether the paces of Armenia meet reaching the EU standards, the Ambassador Vaidotas Verba answered,- “The paces of Armenia should first meet you and not us. And if the efforts and paces that are currently applied by Armenia in the negotiation process, meet you, I believe, the EU will give an adequate response. The EU will never impose or push for some moves. We will wait.” Aravot.am asked the Ambassador whether he does not see any nervous reactions from RF. “I, as well as many EU officials, believe that the Eastern Partnership is not against somebody, but for the sake of somebody. Personally, I do not see any reason being nervous because everything is done for the sake of. Armenia has selected the European direction and we are here to help you, and it is not a cause to make a war on somebody,”- said Ambassador Vaidotas Verba, who tend to think that the EU-Armenia agreement will initiate in Vilnius.
