September 23,2013 16:39

The information revealed on the RF government website  that the RF Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree, according to which the diplomas of 201 universities of only 23 countries will be recognized in Russian, caused an excitement among the media and social networks. Many expressed uncertainty that the universities Armenia are not in the list.

Tigran Sahakyan, head of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, in the interview with Aravot.am, told that since 2001 there is an intergovernmental agreement between RA and RF governments, according to which that all types of documents at all levels regarding educational, scientific degrees and academic titles are mutually recognized by the RF and RA.

“As for this news, the decree refers to the universities with which the RF has not concluded such agreement, and it is fixed there that with the exception of the countries with which it has the intergovernmental agreements. 201 universities of 23 countries are the universities, which are leading universities in the list of international ratings, but the Russian Federation does not have respective agreements with those countries, therefore a question is emerged to recognize the documents of these universities in the RF, and similar decree was made by the government. In our case, we have such an agreement, there is also an agreement on the mutual recognition of documents in the territory of the CIS, there is a comprehensive legal-contractual base with government decrees and legal regulations,”- said the head of the Department.

He also added that all kinds of documents not only of school, but also of vocational, higher education and post education are mutually recognized in Armenia and Russia.
