Yerevan mayor was not informed about the protest with donkeys

November 08,2013 18:48

Referring to the claims of Silva Adamyan engaged in environmental and animal protection issues that the public event against the oligarchs organized yesterday in participation of donkeys walking along the streets of the capital was supposed to have the mayor’s permission, Aravot.am asked Taron Margaryan whether the mayor had given the permission for donkeys. In an interview to “A1+”, Silva Adamyan assured that the organizers of the event had no right to use donkeys in their protest without a special permit of the mayor. In one of the questions addressed to the City Hall, Aravot.am was interested to know if the donkeys were involved in the action without permission, why the municipality did not refer to relevant authorities to stop the action with donkeys.

In response, the Information and Public Relations Department of Yerevan Municipality informs Aravot.am, “The mayor does not issue a permit to public events (including the event with the donkeys mentioned in your question). The mayor is notified about the events or public meetings. Such notification was not made, and naturally, the fact was not accepted as a not by the mayor. If there is a breach of public order, it is regulated by the law on Police. Prevention is again a function of the police of Armenia.”
