“Twenty-two years later, it became obvious what low actions were committed by Levon Ter-Petrosyan and Raffi Hovannisian, not talking about internationally recognized borders of Armenia when being registered in the UN,” said Paruyr Hayrikyan, referring to the condition put forward today by founding member of the European Union, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, which implies to Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Union with the UN-recognized borders, i.e., without Nagorno Karabakh.
Recall that Nazarbayev has also reminded as an argument, “You have joined the World Trade Organization in that way, and there is a precedent.” As said by Hayrikyan, the Eurasian Union is an experience of cooperation by dictators. “Over twenty-five years, the KGB agents were forcing us to sacrifice everything for the sake of Artsakh by yelling Karabakh-Lenin-party-Gorbachev, and now it just so happened that we are also sacrificing Artsakh for nothing.” To our question whether Armenia will sign the document for joining the Eurasian Union under such a condition, Mr. Hayrikyan answered, “I am Armenia, and not today’s opportunists, when I was an international figure with twenty-five years of experience, they were minor Komsomol members. Armenia has not accepted and will not accept, and as for today’s minor ruling authorities of Armenia, they are ready to accept the worse and have already accepted.”
