For the past months there has been observed a regular increase in the number of passengers and flights, this being the result of the “open sky” policy adopted by the RA Government.
As compared to May 2013, a 36.9% increase in passenger flow was observed at the “Zvartnots” International Airport of Yerevan in the 5th month of 2014. In May 2014 the Airport served 171 431 passengers against 125 263 of the past May.
The number of flights in the same period rose by 49.4%. Instead of the 1244 flights in past May the number of flights operated in May 2014 was 1858.
If 27 airlines operated regular flights to Zvartnots in May 2013, now their number is 33. Also most of the airlines increased frequencies to all destinations, which resulted in reduction of air ticket prices.
