The recent shots fired by the opponent at the border between Armenia and Nakhchevan/ Azerbaijan, in the opinion of the President of “Peace Dialogue” NGO, Edgar Khachatryan, were unprecedented.
“After the signing of the ceasefire, the activism by Azerbaijan at the border between Armenia and Nakhchevan/Azerbaijan was indeed unprecedented. Due to these actions, unfortunately, we recorded two victims,” says the NGO President, in conversation with Aravot.
According to the message released by the Defense Ministry, on June 5, in the military base of protection sites of one of the military units deployed in the south-western direction of Armenian-Azerbaijani border zone, the contract servicemen Andranik Eghoyan (born in 1988, Ararat m/u) and Boris Beniki Gasparyan (born in 1992, Ararat m/u) got a fatal bullet from the shot fired by the opponent.
“The Armenian side has repeatedly stated that it will not leave the Azerbaijani provocation unpunished, which in turn means that new victims might be possible by Armenia and Azerbaijan side,” believes the President of “Peace Dialogue” NGO.

And despite the activeness on the border, Edgar Khachatryan mentioned that in the near future these incidents will not turn into full-scale combat operations.
“Despite the growth of tension on the borders, nevertheless, I do not think that these incidents will turn into full-scale military actions in the near future. In my opinion, this was another attempt by official Baku to exert pressure on Armenia and Minsk Group co-chairs for imposing their desires in the negotiating process,” wraps up Edgar Khachatryan.
