The Minister of Economy of the RA Karen Chshmaritian receives the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary H.E. Mr. Ivan Kukhta

On August 11 the Minister of Economy of the RA Karen Chshmaritian received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary H.E. Mr. Ivan Kukhta.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Economy of the RA Sergey Avetisyan and the political advisor to the Embassy of Ukraine to Armenia Igor Roman Svyatoslavovich.

Welcoming the guests, the Minister noted that economic relations between Armenia and Ukraine have always been close and despite the current political situation in Ukraine the relationship is kept between the two countries. The Minister also noted that the Armenian-Ukrainian economic cooperation mainly concentrates on the sectors of tourism, innovation and information technology and he expected further closer cooperation in these areas.

In his turn expressing his gratitude for the opportunity of meeting with the Minister, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ivan Kukhta said that despite the current political situation in Ukraine, the new government is trying to restart relations with the countries.

Touching upon the Armenian-Ukrainian economic relations the Ambassador expressed the hope that the two countries would find edges for cooperation regardless of the fact which economic union the countries are going to join.

The parties agreed that the possibilities for cooperation should be used in the most effective way; one of the ways of cooperation is regular meeting of the Armenian-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission, scheduled for October. They also discussed the possibility of cooperation in the field of aviation. As a first step the Armenian side will present the package of cooperation and then the Ukrainian side will come up with proposals.
