Thanks to joint efforts by the World Peace Organization for International Peace Youth Group and Armenia’s Youth Organization, the 1st Peace Conference of Armenia was held in Yerevan, the main goal of which is the fight for peace and dissemination of peace ideas among young people around the world. At the request of Deputy Chairperson of Armenian Students Association, Sargis Asatryants, the conference participants stood up in remembrance of the Armenian young soldiers recently deceased defending the borders of the homeland and ensuring peace in the Contact line of Armenia and Azerbaijan borders.
Prior to starting the conference, the leader of the International Peace Youth Group, South Korean Vicki Kim, said to Aravot.am, “This is my first visit to Armenia. Before coming here, I had very little information about Armenia. In Korea and the Asia Minor region, it is difficult to get complete information about Armenia, Karabakh and Armenians. I am very much impressed. Two days ago, we visited Nagorno-Karabakh (the visit coincided with the aggravation of situation provoked by Azerbaijani in Azerbaijan and Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan-Armenia Contact lines. A.H.). You, Armenians, are working too much for peace. But it is very difficult to be alone. All the countries should help you in your fight for peace. Countries contact online and call for peace. But its effectiveness is very small. If we work together for peace in Armenia, it would really be a powerful movement.”
To our question of whether being in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, they personally were convinced that Azerbaijan is the firsthand attacker, that we just defend our borders, the peace and safety of bordering area residents, Vicki, Kim said, “North and South Koreas are also in conflict. North Korea bombs on South Korean border. And if we do not defend our country, the war will go further.”
