“Kocharyan, do you have your share in Kajaran?” asks Hrant Bagratyan

September 01,2014 13:26

The former prime minister of Armenia thinks that Kocharyan had made deals worse than “ArmRusGazard”

The former prime minister of Armenia, also Deputy of the National Assembly, Hrant Bagratyan, in the conversation with Aravot.am, referring to the 2nd President, Robert Kocharyan’s possibilities of returning to power, noted that Kocharyan’s “chances” are weak, if, of course, it is about true elections. “I cannot speak instead of the public, because a part of its members is taking the money and voting. In fact, this practice has been introduced in Armenia by Kocharyan,” opines Mr. Bagratyan.

Recall that recently the 2nd president of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, in his interview to Russia’s ” Noyev Kovcheg” Russian-language newspaper, in response to the question of the journalist, “Can you come to power again in these complicated situation?” had said, “I am constantly learning something, I read a huge amount of professional literature, I am travelling, and accumulating knowledge. I am trying to be maximum useful to the company, where I am elected in the staff of the board of directors. Whether it would be appropriate to apply all of it in the politics, I do not know, all depends on the circumstances.”

Assessing Robert Kocharyan’s activities and his possible return to power, Hrant Bagratyan made a remarkable observations, noting, “If we try to formulate the matter in the logical dimension, then we should understand that unlike the first president, Kocharyan had governed the public resources, which he was possessing ex officio, meaning personal well-being.”

As presented by Mr. Bagratyan, still in 2006, «Forbes» magazine included him in the list of Armenia’s rich people, and a number of CIS publishers consider him a billionaire. The very Kocharyan, as said by the NA MP, does not miss the opportunity of introducing his guys a big businessman. “But where did this money come from? The public did not receive any explanations from Kocharyan. As a president, he was morally obligated to answer every question. For example, why was the Sevan-Hrazdan cascade, 900 megawatts, one of the wonders of Armenia and the world, alienated for about 3.5 billion dollars, that is, free? Why was Iranian gas pipeline built later and with thin diameter? Believe, these are worse deals than the agreement of December 2, 2013, in terms of “ArmRusGarard” (currently, “Gazprom- Armenia” – N. B.). Due to them, our citizens pay 41.85 drams for the electricity, and consume a very high value gas.

Or, how did it happen that Kajaran (meaning the Kajaran Copper-Molybdenum plant, N.B.) was sold without money? Yes, with no money. Nothing was paid for it. Later, along with receiving profit, they paid a few coins to the state. This is Armenia’s oil. Azerbaijan was more honest to its public resources; it did not give it to an offshore company. Kocharyan, do you have your share in Kajaran? Yes or no? Is it the way to privatize? What happened to pure iron plant? Whose is the AMP? What happened to Ardshinbank and so on? How are you associated with АФКСистема (Sistema JSFC)? He must give an answer to these questions, one by one, thoroughly, an official response. He was the President, wasn’t he? He should ask the prosecution to examine the cases one by one. Then he was saying us and blaming us that we are privatizing by paying pennies. He was including the debts of the company into the cost and then announcing, look, the sale prices have been increased. Now, he is a billionaire, and kills lions. So, how?”
