NA Republican faction MP Lernik Aleksanyan is sure that Armenian cannot be considered a miserable country. “I will tell at once that I do not agree. Our country has not recorded an awful score of unemployment, it is seen with the naked eye. Certainly, there are people living poor, but it does not mean that our countries should be ranked among miserable countries,” said Mr. Aleksanyan.
Note that Armenia ranks the 10th by the index of misery among the world’s 109 countries. This is evidenced by the data of 2013 scores of the “Measuring Misery around the World” published by the American Cato Institute research organization. The MP could not explain why in his opinion Armenia could rank in the list of the misery. “A year ago, the score was different, and rather positive. Perhaps, we should rank the last. How did they count? What did they count? This is not reliable.” The high index of unemployment was considered the biggest factor for including Armenia in the 10th line.
According to the American Center, Armenia had appeared in the top ten by misery index for the 10th high score of unemployment. Unlike us, our neighbor Georgia is less miserable, winning the 24th place in the table, Turkey is in the better condition (ranked 27th), and Azerbaijan ranked the 38th. Mr. Aleksanyan explains such score by the American Center by the affiliation of Armenia to the EaEU. “The scorings in the West contain a political shade to prove that the sanctions imposed to Russia reflect Armenia as well.”
